High-value products from agricultural residues through sustainable chains
AGRILOOP is an EU, UK, Swiss and China funded project that brings together 35 academic and industrial partners to convert underexploited agricultural residues into high-value bioproducts. Its main objective is to develop safe-and-sustainable-by-design (SSbD) bioconversion processes integrated into a cascading biorefinery. This will produce plant and microbial proteins, polyesters, and other bio-based chemicals for various applications.
As one of Agriloop’s key technology partners and WP4 coordinator, LabICAB is scaling to pilot level a technology for the production and purification of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) from agro-food residues to produce mulching films and rigid plastics for the agricultural sector.
