Biostimulant impact and action in agriculture
BIOSIMPACT, funded by Cariverona Foundation, focuses on the development of a supply chain for the recovery and use of nutrients (N, P and K) essential for plant growth, and for the production of microalgae-based biostimulants from livestock manure digestates. To achieve this goal and tangible impacts, six research groups from the University of Verona work together with the agricultural cooperative La Torre (VR), the Environmental Education Centre of Legambiente Verona, and Confagricoltura, Italy’s leading farmers’ organisation.
LabICAB has studied and developed a pilot-scale technology chain that integrates different physico-chemical processes to produce concentrated nutrient streams from anaerobic digestate to be used as sources for microalgae photo-bioreactor growth and plant fertilisers.
